KENYA

You can choose between Teaching in Primary School, Working in an Orphanage, Medical, Cultural, Community Development (Maasai Women), or HIV Clinic for Women.

TEACHING in Primary School program and working in ORPHANAGE focuses on the local school children and their needs to learn and develop life skills.


MEDICAL volunteer works at local clinic and assists in daily office work and with walk-in customers.


COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT project aims to help the Maasai people retain their culture and preserve their local environment as the modern world continues to impact their way of living.


You can volunteer at HIV CLINIC called â€˜Living Positive Kenya', an organization for Women and their families that have been infected or affected by HIV and AIDS.

Volunteer works 5 days a week and 5 hours minimum up to 7 hours max per day. Weekends are free to travel but you can also stay local.

COST: Half of weekly payment is due at time of sign-up and remaining amount is due 30 days before start date. 2 week program is $600, 3 week program is $850, 4 week program is $1,090. These costs include STWT international travel handbook, STWT t-shirt, airport pick-up, volunteer program, accommodations, 3 meals a day, 24/7 in-country staff monitoring, administrative costs, program support, and certificate of completion. 

UGANDA

You can choose between Teaching in Primary School, Construction on the new school being built in Lugazi and NEW Women Empowerment. 


TEACHING in Primary School program focuses on the local school children and their needs to learn. Your responsibilities are to teach children in primary school, Play games and interact with children during school day, 


CONSTRUCTION Volunteer works in the community and also on the new school to create new opportunities for the children and teachers.


WOMEN EMPOWERMENT:  Women and children are more vulnerable to other rights violations such as inadequate access to health care, education, lack of protection from sexual abuse, physical and mental abuse, and child abuse. The mentioned conditions are responsible for the high rate of illiteracy, teenage pregnancy rates, street children, school dropouts, lawlessness, high poverty and child sacrifice incidences. The Youth Concern Women Empowerment Group in partnership with STWT are offering the following programs for the women in the community 1. Savings and credit schemes 2. Dairy farming 3. Piggery farming 4. Goat rearing 5. Poultry farming 6. Skills and confidence building.

GHANA

You can choose between Teaching in Primary School or Childcare in Partnership with Akumanyi Foundation. As a volunteer serving at this program, you will be considered a daily staff member at Achiase Children's Home working Monday - Friday, with the opportunity to travel on weekend or stay and work.


RESPONSIBILITIES: Your efforts will be focused on caring for the kids by nurturing, playing, tutoring, and teaching them. Also, you will be expected to help with various needs, chores, and duties around the children's home. Additionally, volunteers will engage with the sustainable project of focus, and at this program that is a bread business for Mama Sarah, the mother of the home. 


COST:  $150 deposit due at time of sign up includes STWT international travel handbook, complete travel planning, STWT t-shirt, and certificate of completion. Half of weekly cost is due at time of sign-up and remaining amount is due 30 days before start date. 2 week program is $490, 3 week program is $580, 4 week program is $670. The longer you stay, the price per week reduces. These weekly costs include accommodations, food and purified water while at your program, volunteer program, airport pick-up and drop-off from a local staff member, 24/7 in-country staff monitoring, administrative costs, and program support.
